No updates yet

Ok friends, I'm not trying to keep you in the dark, I just didn't have much of an update, and I didn't want to overshadow RobRob's graduation...

So, Ron was going to be here Monday and get to stay for two weeks. But, from our last quick talk, it sounds like more of his family dropped in on him over the weekend, which has further delayed his visit... We haven't gotten to talk much lately - easy to understand if he's got a house full of family - so I don't have any information yet on a rescheduled visit. I'm hoping we'll get to talk in the next couple of days to schedule a tentative date, if nothing else.

Keep your fingers crossed! And I'll update you as I know more...

Super sneaky...

Guess who showed up for Rob-Rob's convocation this morning? After a sneaky-pete late-night flight from Sacramento... it's Gecky!!!
The other half of the Bobsey twins:

After a quick meet-and-greet with the Pres., we proceeded to the Wilkinson Center ballroom for the School of Family Life Convocation. Of course, Robin looked fantastic!

Afterward, we took some more pictures - can't wait for Nancy's blog, as she got some good ones! And then we learned about the Gratitude Stole. It's the white satin strip hanging around Robin's neck above... The grad wears it with their cap and gown during all of the festivities, and then they must give the stole to someone that they are grateful to. Robin presented hers to Mom and Dad, with a heartfelt and tearful "Thank you."

She had written this little note on the back:

By this time, we were all ready for some real food. So we went to a local buffet, to get done before Gecky's return flight this afternoon. Just a short visit, but we loved every second of it! Here's one last look at the "Hottie from Hottingham" - our favorite grad, Robin!

CONGRATS!!!!

Pomp & Circumstance

Congratulations, Robin!!! You did it!

(And you looked great, too!)

We're so proud of you. We can't wait to see what's coming in the next few chapters in your life...

PS - I win! I posted cute Robin grad pics before anyone else... Tee hee! :)

A few more days...

No - Ron has not arrived yet. He called Sunday to wake me up - so cute! - and told me that his family might be coming into town the first part of the week. Argh! I mean, yay! It's nice to have family visit - but did it have to be on my week?! He's still planning on coming out, but it might be Friday or Saturday before he gets here.

In a way, that's better for me. Now I can give Miss Rob-Rob my undivided support and attention as she graduates from BYWoo into the harsh realities of life. I plan to capture the whole ordeal for posterity - now that I've found my camera again! No more picture-less blogs! (Plus, I couldn't have Ron visit without documenting the occasion for all of you!)

I'll be sure to keep you all updated on the latest happenings.

PS - Did I mention that Ron told me he is already falling in love with me?

A rare treat?

And no, I'm not talking about yellow cake batter by the spoonful... Unless you have some.

You know, sometimes I struggle to find something to blog about, and then there are times when I can't blog often enough to keep you all in the loop. This is one of those times. So, as of my last post, I had decided to date like a guy and play the field. And I have been a bit. It's been strange for me, but fun too!

And things with Ben have gotten strange. Funny enough - Ellie - he's having some kind of issue accessing his finances, and could I do him a favor...? He wouldn't fess up about what the favor entailed, so I of course refused, and things have just been weird ever since. Hardly any communication over the last week or so, and what little there was, wasn't the same. Luckily, "playing the field" has been a great distraction - aside from the first couple of days where I was pretty bummed... Ice cream didn't even help!

Well, one of the underplayed outfielders has been a guy named Ron. We'd sent a couple of messages online, but hadn't actually chatted or spoken over the phone or anything. As many of you know, I'm not much of a "phone" person. At least, I haven't been - probably since I turned 15... Shana you'll have to verify! I'm the 'what's up?-what's new?-what's the purpose for your call?-'k-good luck with that-talk to you later' kind of girls. Well, boy am I glad for free nights and weekends now! Because Ron and I have been on the phone every night (except for one), and for several hours! I'd estimate that we have talked for about 7 hours over the past few days alone. And I am extremely anxious for Ron's visit next week! I won't say more just yet, only that I didn't think I'd find anyone that could outshine the idea that I had of Ben. But I'm happy to be wrong... ;)

Quick update

Ok, ladies and germs... I don't have time for a detailed update, but wanted to keep you in the loop. It's been a couple of days since I've chatted with Ben (fairly normal given the connection quality where he's at). And since we're not in a committed relationship just yet, I've decided to have fun and maybe even date like a guy! I've never been one that dates a lot, especially since I prefer the monogamous committed relationship, so this is all fairly new to me.

For those that didn't know, I was going to fill you in on how Ben and I met in the first place... He found me on LDS Planet - a dating website that I hadn't heard of before, but my friend just got married to a guy that she met on "the Planet" and she convinced me to post my profile. I'd like to clarify - before I get bombarded with comments about naievete and stupidity - that I am HIGHLY SKEPTICAL of online dating. That being said, I'm coming around to it a little. To be fair, the odds are not high that my Mr. Right lives in Utah County right now. And if he is, I hope he's willing to relocate...

So, the Planet has proven to be a fun distraction. (Making me a little behind on my homework... oops!) And given the surprising number of positive responses, it has definitely boosted my confidence! The worst part is having to sift through the losers and perverts (and really old guys) that respond. I was hoping for a little better on an LDS website, but such hopes were fruitless. There have been a couple, like Ben, that have kept things above board. The others are being "let go." My loss, I'm sure.

To sum up: Things are good. Boys are dumb. Men are hard to find. And a good man is a rare treat.

Xanax anyone?

Boys make me bipolar. And I am convinced that I'm not alone. Everything is bubbles and roses when we talk. Then, two days pass with alternating schedules which preclude conversation, and it's suddenly overcast with a strong chance of showers... I know it's completely ridiculous, but who am I to stop nature in its tracks?

Darn you, estrogen!!!

Are you sitting down?

Ok - I've determined that either pigs have begun to fly or else hell has frozen over, because as much as I hoped for this, I didn't think it would actually happen. In fact, I had resigned myself to the fact that I might never be able to fall in love. So I decided to just live my life with me and Hannah and to make my own future happy. I'd like to say, though, that my "single" status may not be permanent. It's still early, and we're still just working on getting to know each other better, but I may have found my special someone. Or, technically, he found me. Which is EVEN BETTER!!!! :) :) :)

I'll tell you more as things progress - hopefully! - but here are a few quick stats:

Ben
38 years old
6' tall
Masters degree
Freelance Engineer
Super sexy accent - born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal
Lives in Ohio, but is currently in Nigeria finishing work on a new resort
Hopefully coming back to the states in about a week

And he thinks I'm beautiful!!!! Did I mention that he is super fabulous and makes me really happy? !!! Besides the contented feeling of laying on the beach my first day in Hawaii, this might be the happiest I've been in almost 8 years. I dare say I'm giddy.
